13 October: Innostartups, Part I

13 September 2009

On 13 October Club52 starts with a series of events that introduce innovative entrepreneurs in the Arnhem Nijmegen region. The kick-off is given by a number of entrepreneurs that work at the interface of the medical and chemical industries. The speakers for this Event are Mr. Pieter Nieuwland PhD, co-founder of “FutureChemistry”, Mr. Gert Woerlee PhD, founder of “Echo Pharmaceuticals” and Mr. Michel sheep PhD, Director of the international cell donor bank “Europdonor Nijmegen”.

FutureChemistry was set up in 2008. The company develops and sell microreactor systems for the chemical industry that continuous processes in a lab situation analysis. A number of German producers have tried to introduce similar devices without success. FutureChemistry succeeds where others have failed, because they have developed the technology from the end user perspective.

Echo Pharmaceuticals was established in 2006. The company is working on the development of Namisol®. This is a new tablet, based on the active ingredient delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as Dronabinol. Echo Pharmaceuticals has developed a unique method for extracting and purifying Dronabinol from Cannabis sativa l. The new medicine promises a new perspective for MS and Alzheimer's patients and more generally for patients with severe pain-problems.

SEN was established in 1990 as a non-profit organization by the University Medical Center St. Radboud. It has been set up for patients with malignant blood diseases that could not be treated because no suitable stem cell donor was available within their own family. The future of these patients is dependent on the international donorbank that is maintained by Europdonor and its national and international partners. SEN relies on creative entrepreneurship to recruit voluntary stem cell donors and to collect sufficient funds for maintaining its database.

After the presentation, our speakers will take place in a Panel to discuss High Tech entrepreneurship in East Netherlands and answer questions from the audiance.
